SEA TO SKY REVIEW

BABY IT’S COVID OUT THERE

VOLUME 3. ISSUE 1. MAY 2021

The path,  I say through the glass,
ended here. How do I get back?

~ Mary MacGowan, The Road That makes No Sense

Mary MacGowan’s brilliant poem speaks to all of us who were going through our usual day-to-day, housework, walking the dog, and then suddenly found ourselves on a strange path - one filled with fear and isolation and even death. Covid-19 has affected people around the world and poetry, with its keen slicing to the core of a thing, speaks to the pandemic’s impact. In this issue, eight poets and a writer share their stories, and an artist and a photographer share their creations. As Terri Lynn Traulsen writes in her poem, Ossuary, While around us Death circles / We dance here in stillness,

The Waters is open to any poets who want to drop by and dip their toes.

The Waters Poetry Workshop

Many of the poets in this issue can be found writing and workshopping on the online poetry workshop known as The Waters. The Waters is open to any poets who want to drop by and dip their toes. It is divided into various ‘forums’ some for chat some for workshopping. Writers are welcome to post as many poems as they want. The only requirement is that they leave a comment on three other poems for each of theirs. Because of this the workshop is a lively place. Poets can ask for in-depth critque, but otherwise the comments are typically gentle and encouraging. In true poetic form, the forums on the Waters are named using the metaphor of beach and waterfront and include 77 Sunset Beach (where poets write a poem a day for seven days), Starfish Lounge, the Tidepool, the Shipyards (theory and practice) and Sandpiper Books (poet books and chapbooks). If you would like to test the waters of an online workshop, you are welcome. Please read our posted guidelines before posting. The workshop was build using Tapatalk so it’s possible you’ll need a Tapatalk acount. The Waters Poetry dot com

In this issue of Sea to Sky Review, we are happy to include the works of the following mer-poets from the Waters: Antonia Clark, Mary MacGowan, James Thomas Fletcher, Esther Murer, and Bob Bradshaw.
